READY TO REBRAND? DON'T MAKE THESE TOP MISTAKES
In the last year, lots of marketers have thought carefully about their brand and made changes. Changing your brand is a big job for the people who work in marketing. It involves lots of different things and can cost a lot of money for a company. Before you decide to change your brand, make sure you don’t do these things wrong:
REBRAND FOR THE WRONG REASONS
Instead of changing your brand just because you’re bored or feel like it, think carefully. Rebranding should happen because you have a good reason, like if you learn new things about the people who like your brand, or if other companies are doing things that make it hard for your brand to do well.
Sometimes, companies spend a lot of money on rebranding just because they have a new boss who wants to make changes. But if they don’t know what they’re doing, it can make things worse. People might stop buying from them, or even say bad things about them in the news.
MAKE POOR LOGO CHOICES
If your logo already works well, don’t make it more complicated or hard to use. Sometimes, picking the wrong colors or making the logo too fancy can cause problems later when you want to make ads or signs.
But if your logo already has problems, fixing them now is a good idea. Ask people who make pictures and signs (like designers and printers) what problems they’ve had with your logo, and how you can make it better.
FORGET TO CHECK INVENTORY
Before making new things with your new brand, check if you have old things left. Smart companies buy lots of paper and things with their old brand when it’s cheaper, so they can use it later. If you still have old things, wait until you use them up before using the new brand.
Also, if you have computers or systems that automatically order new things for you, turn them off for a while. That way, you won’t get more old things by mistake.
INCONSISTENT EXECUTION
Make sure everything you do shows your new brand. This includes things like clothes with your brand for your employees, pictures and words on social media, signs outside your office, and even the way you write your name at the end of emails.
If some things don’t match the new brand, it can make people confused or think you don’t know what you’re doing. So, it’s important to make everything look the same.
